UV markings on Philippine stamps part 1

Last August, I was toying with my pet scorpions and shining ultraviolet light on them (scorpions glow under UV light). UV light is the same light wavelength used by money detecting machines. The light fell upon a few stamps lying around and some lit up! Since then, I've looked at stamps under UV light as well.

I have found three basic UV markings on Philippine stamps so far. The first one just reads "PPC." I guess it stands Philippine Postal Corporation. I've seen these UV markings on stamps from the 80s to the 90s.

I will upload photos of other UV markings soon.

  1. Wow, that is so cool! That means some people cannot fake them, hehehe! Do the current stamps also have UV markings?
