On March 1, 2013, the Vatican City State officially issued the stamps to commemorate the Sede Vacante following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. The four stamps were designed by Daniela Longo and feature the Vatican's crossed keys with the Umbraculum, the symbol of the Vacancy of the Holy See.
The stamps ahave face values of 0.70, 0.85, 2.00, and 2.25 euros.
