June 01, 2011. I was looking for stamp clubs to join when I stumbled upon POSTCROSSING. It caught my attention so I signed up (my postcrossing profile: http://www.postcrossing.com/user/jblaza). I do have several hundreds of postcards and the site can help me build my postcard collection.
The basic idea was to exchange postcards via snail mail to a random postcrossing user (postcrosser) assigned by the site. Each successful postcard sent entitles you to receive a postcard from a random postcrosser.
I tried it out and sent my first five postcards the following Monday:
four of the Underground River card (sent to Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States), and one of the Miag-ao Church (sent to China).
Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park
Located in the Saint Paul Mountain Range on the northern coast of Palawan (Philippines), this is the longest navigable underground river in the world- 8.2 kilometers. It was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site on December 4, 1999.
Manila Metropolitan Cathedral (Basilica of the Immaculate Conception)
The Manila Cathedral is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. It is located in the Intramuros district of Manila (Philippines). The cathedral has been damaged and destroyed several times since the original cathedral was built in 1581; the sixth and current incarnation of the cathedral was completed in 1958 and was consecrated as a minor basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1981.
These cards were registered by the recipients within 13-17 days from the time I mailed them.
